Welcome Party
8.22 | 7:00 - Late
Liam’s parents, Jeff and Patti, invite you to kick off the festivities with dinner, drinks, and dancing at their lake-side home. The dinner will be buffet style so you’re welcome to join later if you arrive in the area after the bus departs.
While you’re welcome to drive to and from the party, we do not want anyone to drive under the influence. The roads are curvy, and the locals drive fast, and the cops in this area are very good at giving DUI’s. You are welcome to leave your car overnight and return home on the bus.
*Please note that guests are not allowed to bring dogs to this event, but there will be a family dog on premises.
Schedule:
6:15 PM - Bus pickup from cabins 1-20
6:25 PM - Bus pickup from cabin 21-30
7:00 PM - Celebration at Chez Liam’s Family begins
11:00 PM - Bus departure with drop off at both cabin groups - possible earlier departure TBD, we’ll update the website if we can add one
What to wear
Whatever makes you feel comfortable at a family BBQ in the summer. Cut off shorts, flip flops, etc. are all great. Sarah will be making a fashion statement because she likes to, and you’re welcome to do that too if you want.
Wedding Day
8.23 | Ceremony @ 5pm
This is the real deal! We’re getting married! We promise a brief outdoor ceremony (still cute tho) followed by indoor drinks, dinner, dancing and merriment.
The ceremony will be in the amphitheater across from the tea room, adjacent to cabins 1-20 and a 5 minute drive from cabins 21-30.
*Dogs are not allowed in this area for the entire weekend.
What to wear
We’d love to see you wearing something colorful. It’s August in the woods so ‘cocktail attire’ is too restricting of a theme. Sundresses, suit shorts, simple linens, extravagant lace see-through combos, if you find it fun and comfortable we will be happy to see you in it. Men in sandals, approved. Midriffs and jellies, approved. Kids in rainbow unicorn dresses, their most festive tshirt, a batman costume, all approved. Dress in a way that you feel relaxed (you’re already beautiful).
Boat Day
8.24 | 10:45 - late afternoon
Join us for a relaxing day on the water in (shaded) pontoon boats. We’re leaving at 11:00 am from Norris Dam Marina to putt our way towards our favorite swimming cove (& jumping rock for those interested.)
Some of the boats have slides!
We’ll be a quick boat ride from Jeff and Patti’s house and will occasionally shuttle people over there for bathroom breaks as needed.
We will provide life jackets.
We will provide box lunches and you’re welcome to bring beverages and any snacks you’d like to have on hand.
Please note that there are not reliable safety services or lifeguards and we ask that everyone exercise appropriate caution and understand that they are swimming at their own risk.
*Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on our boats.
What to wear and bring
Bathing suits all day!
We suggest hats! You might also enjoy having a caftan, wrap or cover-up.
You may also want to bring beverages, a floatie, extra snacks, sunscreen, or anything else that will make you feel comfortable spending a day in the sun. There will be plenty of space to store personal items on the boats.
BYOB
*If you prefer to be more independent or you’re running late, you can rent your own boats or jet skis at the Norris Dam Marina.
Can we leave early?
We will have 5 boats, and as soon as a group of 10 want to return, you may! (This is due to a boat math problem or how many total ppl are allowed on any one boat.) If you anticipate wanting a shorter lake day we recommend driving to Jeff & Patti’s so that we can drop you off at your car and you can be on your way! ***Just let us know in advance if this sounds like you!***
Is there a beach we can sit on?
Strangely, no! Norris Lake is a dammed mountain valley. The hills go straight into the water and floating in the water and lounging on the boat are the best ways to enjoy the water.
